This is the third post in my things I’m loving lately series, and I have quite few things to mention.
The weather and time of year
I’m very much a fan of this warmer weather and also the sunrises/sunsets (see selection of photos). A couple of weeks ago I did try to set my phone up to take a timelapse in the morning but that failed because someone rang me before it ended so the video never completed!
Last post I mentioned some of the lovely presents from my family however I also received a few more things from my friends so I would like to say a big thank you to all of them. I forgot to picture some new adidas leggings which also arrived it post 🙂
Absolutely loving my driving lessons at the moment. I’ve only completed two hours but I really enjoy being behind the wheel. I’m not someone who gets nervous about being on the road but my downfalls include taking my foot off the clutch too quickly and also using the accelerator too much.
Bit of weird one but I rediscovered this from my early childhood about a month ago and haven’t stopped eating it for breakfast since. It includes the same oats as a normal bowl of porridge would but about half of the mixture is powdered. This makes the texture very, very smooth and digestible, and most importantly it takes only 2 minutes in the microwave. Perfect.
Took the time to find some goggles that actually work because I’ve been swimming so much lately. I ordered the ‘Speedo Women’s Futura Biofuse 2’ on Amazon for £14.42 and I’m very impressed. They fit my face extremely well and they rarely steam up- unlike my old pair which were the most basic form of goggles around.
Whilst on the topic of swimming I’m pleased that my Tuesday night swim session has recently become a lot less busy. I train during the ‘general swim’ so it can sometimes be really annoying if there are loads of kids taking up the shallow end of the pool (especially in the evening, like shouldn’t they be at home doing homework or something). This is probably the only time you”ll find me encouraging people in my area to stay at home rather than go out to the leisure centre.
Training on the elliptical
Moved up to working out on the elliptical (cross trainer/ whatever you want to call it). This is the closest I have been to properly running in ages so I really enjoy it. I’m also seeing a specialist on Thursday so hopefully I’ll get some news through about when I can start running again.
Cycling around Bewl Water
We’re about to move house and having lived 10 minutes away from Bewl Water for a couple of years now we realised that we have never actually cycled around it. Therefore last Sunday we hired bikes and completed the loop (think it’s about 12/13 miles)- I wouldn’t say it was the hardest cycle because it’s mainly flat but it was nice to look at the reservoir (which was actually very low) and cycle in the woods on some sections.
Cross country club
To carry on with the sports theme of my past 3 points I have been taking cross country club for the first form (year 7) on Thursday afternoons. I have been very lucky with the weather so far and even though only a few kids do it I have really enjoyed coaching them and it’s amazing how willing they are to train hard. It was on the second week where one of them went very pale from trying so hard (of their own volition!). I have taken it back quite a bit since then and we normally do an endurance section, a speed section, and then some drills with cones and tennis balls at the end.
The fact that half term is only a week away
So happy to be close to a two week break. I’m staying at home but I can’t wait to stop working for a bit and relax. I’ve still got a few things planned (like picking up a new coat and shoes) but it’s going to be lovely to train in the morning and then relax for the rest of the day. The baby didn’t come last Thursday but Mum is being properly induced on Friday so I should have a baby sister/brother by the time half term starts.
I apologise for this slightly short post- I have a very busy day ahead not helped by the fact that I have spent this morning on the sofa watching the a Harry Potter movie. As you probably know I love the books but have never watched the movies so I’ve finally opened my box set and am getting through them.
If you want to catch up with my latest post the link is below. I hope you all have a great Sunday and if you raced yesterday I hope it went really well.
